: a stupendous
example of pure web site design virtuosity. (Of course, I'm slightly
biased 'cause I play in the band & made the site.)

Paul Jenny: Jazz & Mexico: Paul is a good friend with an extensive knowledge of both Jazz music history and Mexican culture. His main purpose in life is to share his knowledge of both. He'll be doing some travel packages in Oaxaca and Guanajuato next winter. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to check out Mexico in a safe and fun setting without any of the standard, dorky touristy kitsch (& the accompanying touristy pricing).

Don't ask questions... just go here. (Two words: WATCH THUMBTANIC)
Here's a personal site from Turkey that certainly puts mine to shame...

Project Vote Smart: Enter your zip code and find
out who your all elected officials are & how you can contact
them. If more people gave a crap and used this site and contacted
the White House and the Senate and Congress RE: sensible and equitable
foreign policy, maybe we wouldn't need the next sites.
| The Hunger Site & The Rainforest Site: a noble commercial web concept. It converts site hits into advertiser food & land donations. Takes half a second and doesn't cost a dime. I go here every day. |

Emerald City Fontworks: cool free fonts!

Here can be found the fascinating story of a couple of guys from England who invented a bass guitar that uses rubber strings. Not just for bass gear nuts; there's a lot of insight to be gained about the invention & enterpreneurial process.

I've done the occasional bit of work (writing, beta testing, vacuming...) for the good people at the World Wide Woodshed. Their audio slowdown programs for Windows are pretty neat (with Mac versions on the horizon... maybe? Please?). The latest offering, SlowBlast! is a $20 audio sampler/speed control program that eats those $80 handheld phrase samplers for breakfast. Their site has lots of goodies (including an article by yours truly in their newsletter: "Woodsheddin'").

What a zesty and unique bass-related site is this!! I particularly like the "amusing basses" section where they have some real stinkers (& a few beauties) on display. This site is one of those much too rare occasions where commerce takes a back seat to fun. Do reward the efforts of these good people, and pay the site a visit.

A neat site that is of great use to
us amateur webmasters, without the usual crass commercialism.
It's always nice to see someone distributing information &
helping others mostly for the pure joy of it. Definitely worth
your while to use this guy's services and throw him a bone...
Granny D has spent a year walking from California to Washington DC to protest the current state of campaign finance reform. Did I mention she's 90 years old? Neat lady. Neat site.
Ground: My old pals from Calgary. I used to be their bass player, but I've been gone too long to claim any credit for their current success, which, by the way, is mighty impressive. Speaking of impressive, how else can I describe their intro page:
